Today, the Verizon Foundation announced the 2015 Innovative App Challenge National Winners! The eight winning teams received new Samsung Galaxy tablets, prize money of $15,000 and the opportunity to work with MIT App Inventor Master Trainers to develop their winning ideas into functional mobile apps available on the Google Play Store.

Verizon representatives appeared on school campuses today to surprise winning teams with the news and brought banners, photographers and video crews to document the impromptu celebrations. 2015 marks the third year of the Verizon Innovative App Challenge and partnership with MIT. Winning app designs ranged from social entrepreneurship to 3D modeling to reading tools designed to help people with dyslexia. Many congratulations to all of the students!
