Install the App Inventor Setup Software

Before you can use App Inventor, you need to install some software on your computer. The software you need is provided in a package called App Inventor Setup. Follow the instructions for your operating system to do the installation, and then come back to this page to move on to Step 3 (starting App Inventor) and Step 4 (setting up your device or emulator).

Start the App Inventor Designer and Blocks Editor

You're now ready to start the App Inventor Designer (in the browser) and the Blocks Editor (local Java program). Follow the instructions in Step 3, then come back to the Setup Instructions to see how to get a device or emulator connected.
