Mobile Computer Science Principles Fall Professional Development

Mobile CSP is a College Board-endorsed AP Computer Science Principles curriculum that introduces high school students to coding and computer science by building creative, socially useful mobile apps using MIT's App Inventor. Full professional development for Mobile CSP is available at no cost* to Massachusetts high school teachers who commit to teaching CSP as an AP course in 2019-2020. An email about this commitment from your principal is required to receive the tuition waiver, which is possible due to the generous support of the College Board. The fall PD is five weeks online (Oct. 13 - Nov. 17, 2018), with the first and last Saturday as in-person PD days in Boston. Teachers will be expected to put in approximately five hours of work per week doing lessons online during the five online weeks and commit to the two Saturday full-day meetings (8AM - 4PM) on Oct. 13 at Boston Latin Academy and Nov. 17 at MIT. Support for travel/parking or lodging can be provided if needed. Questions can be directed to Beryl Hoffman (MA Mobile CSP facilitator) at hoffmanb@elms.edu. *Tuition waivers are provided thanks to support of the College Board. Travel and/or lodging support may also be available for those who need it to attend Boston workshop days. Teachers outside of Massachusetts may apply for the PD and pay tuition or apply for partial scholarships.
