One Percent Fitness | Apps for Individuals Category
What the app does One Percent Fitness tracks up to six of your fitness goals (running, push-ups, etc.). When a user logs a workout, the app sets a goal that is 1% higher for their next workout. For example, if a user run 5 miles today, the app logs his workout and sets his goal for his next run at 5.05 miles. This helps users gradually increase the intensity of their workouts. Users can also set goals related to time, repetitions, and weight used.
Why it was built This started with creator Jared Careys personal goal to find the most efficient workout possible. He began by using a rowing machine but struggled to build endurance. He decided to start small and aim for 1% longer durations with every workout. Jared built a basic app to track this goal. The first version had four simple text boxes, some math, and a TinyDB to track his rowing progress. As his rowing workouts improved (from 10 minutes to 26+ minutes on the rowing machine!), he decided to expand his fitness regime and his app. He started over with App Inventor 2. His goal was to build an app with a clean user interface and release it on the Play Store for all to use. (No ads, no accounts, no personal data shared, minimal permissions, no internet or GPS or other sensors required.)
